Trims & accessories quality check is an important step in the garment manufacturing process to maintain product quality. Whether it is threads, buttons and zippers, or labels and packaging: these inevitable parts or components are necessary for the performance and look of the final product. It is crucial to have a systematic testing process to keep things up to the mark. In this blog post, we will cover the main inspection points to be considered when inspecting trims and accessories, the standard procedures, and the typical defects.
Key Elements for Inspecting Trim and
Accessories
Before beginning the inspection, ensure the following elements are in place:
· Approved Trim Card: A standard trim card must be available, approved, and signed by the factory or the buyer's sales representative with the approval date.
· PDM (Product Data Management): The buyer's PDM, responsible for the style, must be present to verify label, tag, and sticker requirements.
· ACL Table: An Acceptable Quality Limits (ACL) table must be accessible to guide the inspection process.
Trim and Accessories Inspection
Procedure
To ensure consistency and accuracy, follow this step-by-step inspection procedure:
·
Initial
Quality Control (QC): Upon receipt of the trim and accessories, perform an
initial inspection using a 1.5 ACL for each lot.
· Secondary Check (if initial check fails): If the batch fails the initial LCA check, inspect 50% of the moldings in the entire batch.
· Full Batch Inspection (if defects persist): If defects are found in more than 50% of the inspected blanks, conduct a full batch inspection.
· Supplier Complaint Process: After inspection, the quality control team must submit a complaint to the supplier through the marketing department. Complaints must be submitted within 7 days of receiving the blanks at the factory.
